Was thrilled they offer low carb favors because my son is on a special diet that requires very low carbs. The girl working there was so friendly and helpful. Con: they only offer 1 low carb flavor here. Would love to have more choices.

This is the only ice cream store I know that is jam packed when it's -20 outside. The most popular spot in highland.

Good, if generic, frozen yogurt. But things like the Chapstick--without a safety seal--at toddler-eye-level seemed designed to pressure parents into buying things their kids don't want or need. The price of the yogurt was reasonable, but having to buy a tube of Chapstick simply because my daughter TOUCHED it was not. Parents of toddlers beware!

Frozen yogurt seems to be making a comeback? What happened to TCBY? Cakepops and Cupcakes seem so 6 months ago....trend or not, I still love a good cupcake along with some good frozen yogurt. The last time we drove by, it was swarming with people, so I opted to sit this attempt out while J graciously went and grabbed some for us to go. He came back with two flavors; New York Cheesecake which I didn't really care for, and Cake Batter which was pretty tasty. I really like the variety of different flavors which I guess they switch up and leave the popular ones around for a little bit. The little spoons are as cute as can be. The cups are whimsical and remind me of something in Hello Kitty's world or some cutsey pie video game. Will defitnely go back to try some of the other flavors. Like that you can throw on toppings if desired, soft serve and control of how much you want to get so you're not wasting so much.

Excellent froyo, only place with slightly better froyo is yogurt lab in Uptown. I like the ambience here better though, it's not as crowded and in general is cleaner and better organized than other area froyo joints.

I adore this place!!!!! Great choices, great atmosphere, and a real social experience. It's a goto for a date bc it creates a natural dialog about the selections and choices you make. I often do menchies for a meal, but thats prolly just me... The only issue I see with new people to this institution, is they overfill the cup bc of more and more options from station to station. When completely filled, this fro yo treat can be expensive. I recommend filling the cup just with half of the frozen yogurt and then have some fun with a small amount of toppings. Seriously, the yogurt speaks for itself, m&m's and other nonsense are not even necessary. HAVE FUN! Take a group or a friend!

I am truly a fan of all froyo shops but Menchies does rank up there! Compared to other shops in the Twin Cities they were better in that they layout was more conducive to getting lots of people in and out. The open layout ensured that I didn't have to run into 10 people just to get my froyo fix. They also had outdoor seating which was a plus! Their flavors and toppings were the standard - about 10-12 flavors and 30ish toppings. Yum!

We love Menchies. My son who is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, dairy, SOY, corn, ect. Can come here and get a nice yogurt cup without contamination as Menchies chains make their own yogurt from their own Farm. They use their own cows and have their own set up. Its not manufactured or processed in a facility that process everything plus the mice. Its very quaint and pleasant and my 4 kids who are under the age of 8 love it their, having fun creating their own yogurt cup. Sometimes it gets packed with people but when it is not it is very enjoyable. Also they can make cakes and have a birthday party at a menchies. They also offer a military discount...WOOT. inexpensive fun for children and adults. Big enough to bring a special needs stroller or wheel chair in.

I like Menchies, but I'm not head over heels in love with it. The reason is weird, so bear with me... There are about 16 flavors of yogurt available... and they all taste exactly like the name. Cake batter tastes like I'm eating cake batter. Gingerbread tastes like I'm eating the head off of a cookie shaped like a man. Cappuccino is just like a cappuccino. Seriously... it weirds me out and makes me uncomfortable. It's pay by the ounce, so you can mix as many flavors and toppings as you want (and they have a huge variety to choose from). My favorite is whatever yogurt flavor my mind can wrap around with 3 scoops of gummy bears.

It's Menchie's. We sought this one out because we frequent one back home, so when we were in town over spring break, we popped in. So good.

Personally, I really like this place! It's a cute place to get some tasty frozen yogurt! Be careful how much you put in and your wallet will be safe! You pay by weight, not topping! The Maple Bacon Donut, Banana & Pumpkin flavors are delicious! Cute décor - definitely geared towards the 18 and under crowd!

After seeing all the froyo shops in California. I was wondering when froyo would come to Minnesota! And it finally did after a long while........ha. Anyways, this place is always warm and welcoming. All the flavors are amazing, along with all the toppings. They also give you a mysmilege card free of charge. Go on the menchies site to register your card to get 25 free smiles. $1 = 1 smile. Every 50 smiles adds in $5 in menchies money. With the card, it also offers exclusive rewards and offers and you can also get a special treat on your birthday! I'm not sure what else to say. I haven't been back since Fall of 2011. But this place has left an impression on me and whenever I'm in the neighborhood. I'm definitely gonna hit this place up!

I was super pumped to try one of the new yogurt shops that have been popping up all over the Twin Cities. I walked by Menchie's last fall, and finally got around to trying it last week. I have a hard time with places like this that are serve yourself. My eyes are always way bigger than my stomach and I always take too much. Menchie's is especially challenging for me because of all of the delicious toppings they have to choose from. I like that they have tiny cups so you can sample the yogurt before you decide which flavor you want. I never know what to order until I try a taste. I chose the red velvet and cake batter swirl. I though the yogurt was really tasty. I topped mine with brownie bites and hot fudge. My hubby chose chocolate and vanilla swirled, topped with Reece's peanut butter cups, hot fudge Reece's Pieces and peanut butter sauce. His sundae was way better. I think they should offer a few suggestions for yogurt and toppings like they have at Cold Stone. I was a little overwhelmed at Menchie's. Overall, a great experience. This place got pretty crowded a few minutes after we were there at 6:30 and the checkout was a little slow so our yogurt started to melt, that is my only complaint.

Typical and decent yogurt place. I had coconut, tart apple and chocolate last night. All very good. Wish they had smaller cups because I lack self control. I will give it 4 stars because I enjoy the neighborhood, lot's to do in Highland Park.

Menchie's has the best frozen yogurt I've ever had. A dozen or so flavors that are all super rich and taste like the finest ice cream. There's the standard tart flavors, plus ever-changing awesome ones like pumpkin, gingerbread, cake batter, maple bacon donut (no joke).... The toppings are endless and great too. My favorite combo is red velvet + cake batter yogurt with hot fudge and brownies on top. The staff is so friendly! (Actually, almost too friendly. I've gotten a full-on walk-through on how to create a fro-yo sundae each time I've visited by perhaps the smiliest people I've ever met). Their many heat lamps make outdoor seating lovely even into the fall. Prices are slightly high? Maybe I'm just filling my cup too much. Two of us together often pay $8-9.

Menchies is really, really good frozen yogurt -- I'm a big fan or the "tart, original" style yogurt -- sometimes called Pinkberry style. Menchie's is The Yogurt Lab with a Baskin Robbins aesthetic.

Not only will I review this delectable frozen yogurt place (don't abbreviate, do Menchie's justice) but I will also give you an idea for a perfect summer Saint Paul Sunday afternoon. Go to a matinee at Mann's Highland Cinemas I & II for $6.50, walk out of the theater just in time to not ruin your dinner, and shimmy down to the end of the block for a perfect 'nightcap' to your afternoon flick. Yes, glorious Menchies awaits. Always generous with the amount of samples.. you can basically try everything without paying for it.. ice cream appetizer for my ice cream snack? Don't mind if I do. The selling point for me is Menchie's ALWAYS has my favorites: Red Velvet, Birthday Cake, Vanilla Snow, Chocolate Silk, Lychee, Peanut Butter... ect. ..Great flavors, always consistent, creamy..not icy, and SATISFYING. Oh yeah, they also have the greatest selection of toppings in the TC. Too LEGIT to QUIT. They have the RADDEST spoons. Cool plastic, choose from green or pink, yo. I am fortunate that this is 9 miles from my house, otherwise I'd gain 20 pounds and spend my paycheck on this place in a month.

Menchie's is a short bike ride away from my house, so it is the perfect excuse to go for an evening ride to Highland Park. This place has a cute, funky vibe and plenty of seating both inside and out. As far as flavors go, keep it simple. The original tart at Menchie's is just that: tart and tangy and so refreshing. My personal opinion is that the fruit flavors are better than the chocolate or cake flavors, but that may just be how I like my yogurt. The toppings bar is adequate, with every type of candy bar possible, fresh fruit, cookie dough, brownies, and plenty of sauces to finish it all off.

It's way better than Freestyle Yogurt on 35E and Randolph! I am so glad that Menchie's opened up in the neighborhood.

We've been there many times as we live in Highland Park. I have to say - Red Velvet is my favorite. Its really nice that they're liberal with their sample cups because sometimes ya just can't decide :)

Nice friendly staff but you pay by weight, if you don't watch your kids it can get pricey quick!!

  • Ajumma C.

Interesting flavors (Red Velvet-yum!) and a wide variety of toppings. We were there on a cold day but people were still coming in. Seating can get tight. If you are not into kids than you'll probably want to take your yogurt and run.

  • Ruth D.

How did I not know about this place? This is a genius idea! A vast array of self-serve flavors of frozen yogurt, endlessly mixable and matchable! All the toppings you could ever want or think of -- including Nutella in a squeeze bottle (YES PLEASE)! I love the variety, and my kids (ages 2, 2 and 9) were absolutely delighted with their ability to build their own perfect bowl. They also loved the cute little spoons (which you can take home with you!) I work nearby at St. Kate's, so we will definitely be back for more!

Today is National Froyo Day! Menchie's had FREE 6 oz froyo today. I didn't read the fine print. Evidently it was from 4-8 pm. I showed up at about 2:15 but they gave it to me anyway! Score! Excellent customer service. I am a froyo junkie big time but have never been to Menchie's. They have tons of flavors and they list the allergens and nutrition information on each one. SCORE! And they have a super low carb angel food cake one, so you can indulge without feeling bad about it. I got half angel food, quarter java, quarter salted caramel, topped with reeses pb cups, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered caramels, cheesecake bites, and cookie dough. And chocolate sauce and pb sauce. Fat kid Friday going on here! And they have the sample cups. I hate when places don't have the sample cups. This is tied for my number one froyo, along with Yogurt Lab.

Froyo in the Twin Cities. I haven't tried many here, but this is one of the few I've tried here in the cities. Menchie's apparently originated from California, which I did not know, despite being a native Californian.. I guess I never ran across one when I lived there. So I came here to treat my 2 good friends to Ice Cream/Izzy's after losing a bet while bowling. I wanted to take them to Izzy's, but unfortunately, they closed by the time we finished our bowling game. I ended up Yelping somewhere close by that was open and the only option was Menchie's. Menchie's is very similar to Yoghurtland, which is quite popular in California, but not really seen out there. They have 10+ different yoghurt flavors and bunch of toppings like nuts, gummy bears, m&m, and more that you can add. You'll concoct what you want and then pay by weight. This place is a cheaper than Yogurt Lab, which is right next to the U of M. Yogurt Lab is so overpriced and I would not go back there again for Yogurt... Anyhow, the options at Menchie's is pretty good and good topping options as well. It's a typical yogurt place that you would find in California. Pricing is cheaper than YogurtLab, but still more than what you pay in California. I don't quite remember how much it cost, but it was significantly less than Yogurt Lab. The yogurt was decent, though I'm not a big froyo fan. I'd choose ice cream or gelato over froyo anyday. Toppings were fresh, didn't taste stale at all. If you're a Froyo fan, definitely come check this place out. I'd probably wouldn't come back since I'm not a huge Froyo fan, but if I had to choose a Froyo place to eat, I'd choose here.

Yep...I'm a frozen yogurt fanatic and Menchie's feeds my addiction being within walking distance from our home. It's always clean, the staff is friendly, and they rotate flavors frequently. Plus, since it's yogurt you can pretend it's low calorie.

I love this place! So convenient for me to get to by bus. Great area for a yogurt place. Good prices, great selection of yogurt and toppings. Staff is friendly as well.

I do love this place. It's supposed to be healthier option, but after adding all the toppings, it may not be as healthy. LOL Tastes just like ice cream. Can't tell the difference at all. My BF loves this place, but he also loves to pack on the toppings. The salted caramel is real good. Fun place and it's nice you get to choose your own toppings and portions.

Menchie's is a decent frozen yogurt place, and nice that it's in the neighborhood. It follows suit with every other froyo place out there right now -- bright color scheme, wall-mounted soft-serve machines that rotate flavors daily or weekly. A serve-yourself model with a giant toppings bar. Pay by weight at the checkout. We are pretty loyal to Yogurt Lab over at the U and would still say that it is overall better in terms of flavors, richness of the froyo and just general end product. But Menchie's wasn't bad. I did feel that the flavors were unique (popcorn flavor!!!) but also did feel that the flavors weren't as bright/strong and also that the froyo wasn't as creamy as it is at Yogurt Lab. The toppings bar was in some respects better -- love that they have serving spoons for the sprinkles and things since I love to dump a ton of sprinkles on my yogurt. The stores that have sprinkle shakers just don't do it for me! And the caramel sauce that was actually hot in the dispenser was a great touch. I found the staff to be a bit aloof. We weren't welcomed when we came in, and the two employees there were kind of oblivious to us until they needed to serve some froyo and tried their best not to get in our way. As we checked out, the girl made a half-hearted attempt to get us to join the loyalty club (which we did not) and made it clear that she did not really care whether we chose a pink, green or brown spoon. But overall, definitely good enough for a return visit if we are feeling too lazy to drive over to Yogurt Lab. But if I am choosing just on quality and awesomeness, it'll be Yogurt Lab every time.

Stopped into menchies because I'm a huge froyo fan and read they just opened up in the highland. Gave it a try they have a huge selection of flavors 14 to be exact but it is a few more cents than the other froyo places in the twin cities. The fruit looked canned and the staff was too busy trying to stay organized to be attentive or helpful. Another thing they have I thought was strange was the fresh waffle bowls they make on the spot its kinda hard to explain but it was hard not in a crunchy way but in a flexible hard to break sorts. Probably because they place in a clear box that's enclosed not letting it harden properly. In my opinion not worth the extra dollar I paid. But it sure does smell amazing. The reason why I gave it more than two stars is the heaters outside that's totally different and a plus considering how the weather is always changing here in MN. Overall I would come back if I was in the area or hoping to sit outside on a fall day for the heaters.

Growing up I disliked the taste of Yogurt, thank goodness i am all grown up and totally over that phase of my life. Frozen Yogurt tastes awesome and at Menchie's getting one is a fun little activity. You pick how much you want, what you want that coupled with strangers gladly sharing their thoughts about the flavors with you. I never thought buying yogurt could be a fun little thing. If that was not enough, the toppings bar offers a whole wide variety of assorted goodies. Parking should be easy to find. During summer there is out door seating or you can take a stroll around the highland park neighborhood while enjoying your ice cream. A little advise, skip the sweet stuff and go for the fruits for toppings. A much healthier choice and most definitely fruit tastes better with yogurt.

Just give me a spoon! Like Amy R said, cupcakes and cake pops are out and frozen yogurt is in. This place was insane on a recent weekend day. Of course, it was almost 70 outside and people are dying to get outside. We had lunch up the street and both skipped fries so we could hit this place up. I've been dying to try one of these places for a while now. Upon entering, we had to snake our way through the long ass line waiting to pay, which morphed into the end of the assembly line. We each picked up the gigantic bowl, which should be smaller. I get why it's big, but I do not need that much anything. I was more reserved in my choices than my dining companion - I got a little coconut, cake batter, and chocolate. I topped it with real coconut, Twix pieces and peanut butter topping. He loaded that cup up! I didn't even ask all that was in it. Here are my suggestions for Menchies - *They need more than one cashier on a nice Sunday afternoon. *I'm old and I don't have any kids with me - just give me a spoon in whatever color is available. I'm not picky. Although...I've washed it and keep using it. It's the perfect size for many things.....don't offer me a sticker, a tattoo or a pencil. I just want to get in and get out. *If you're old like me, take a patience pill to get through the experience or wear headphones. It's freaking loud in there with all the tweens and kids enjoying their Smiley Day. I will go back because I made myself a mean cup of frozen yogurt, but I will go at off hours to lessen my irritation. I think our 2 cups together were around $8.50, which I guess is probably comparable to DQ?

Even late on a cold, rainy night in May, this place was hopping with activity. People of all ages in here, and mostly of the younger age range. Being familiar with the tasting protocol, I got myself a little paper tasting cup and began using the levers underneath the flavor tags that sounded good to me. Dulce de leche and then green tart apple = caramel apple. Yum! Pistachio, then fresh coconut, then tart black cherry, and finally chocolate. Their current special flavor is "pink lemonade". Back to the dulce de leche and green tart apple... Yum! After making my final selection, which included some dulce de leche, tart black cherry and plain tart yogurt (and no toppings), I went to pay and was offered a spoon in my choice of three different colors (pink, green, or brown). Then I was wished a "smiley day". Super cheerful! Maybe frozen yogurt puts everyone in a cheerful mood... maybe we should all slow down and eat some frozen yogurt from Menchie's every day...

If you're older than 16, you will feel out of place here. That being said, I do like the mochi topping; it's satisfyingly chewy and not too sweet. The store is well organized, but like all frozen yogurt places it's easy to overload your cup and pay a lot for a snack.

  • Joe I.

My daughter freaking loves this place. She's six so the toppings buffet is like the coolest thing on the face of the Earth in her eyes. The staff are great if you engage them, but are not super outgoing to offer help, which is okay - not ideal, but okay. The options for the frozen yogurt are a little bizarre, but honestly, the frozen yogurt is just a vehicle to get whatever topping into your mouth as far as I am concerned. The have stickers for little kids, which kid #1 enjoys. The tables and chairs are crammed into the space making it a little annoying to sit down, but thankfully I have only been there when it was pretty slow. Cool addition to the area, I look forward to going back.

I liked the yogurt, and there's a good variety of toppings. I also like the "make your own" system, since it allows portion control. I'm not a huge fan of the "HAVE A SMILEY DAY!" foolishness that accompanies each purchase, but I'm clearly not the target demographic here. My teenage daughter loves this place, which was full of happy smiling teens on the day we visited.

  • Rhonda G.

For not being that into Froyo, this place hits the spot. I love how it's all in close proximity to the counter. A great variety. I tried the lychee and pink grapefruit, but if you want tart the watermelon sorbet is great. I ended up with the chocolate silk and vanilla mix. For a hot day the consistency was just right, no drippage. I like how you can have a choice of pink or green spoon. Great staff and lots of seating inside and out. Lots of trial and error places at this location. This is a great fit. No more burbs for me. Turns out I'm the froyo type after all, just had to find one of quality.
